Marshall Lee's Crush pg. 4

       "Whatever do you need?" I asked as I approached Fionna and a very upset-looking Marshall Lee. I was rather uncomfortable around Fionna, since, obviously, she had rejected going out with me. But that didn't matter to me anymore, I liked Marshall Lee much more than I would ever like her. I looked at him again, his face was red and he looked very much upset. After seeing him, I knew Fionna was planning something…well, I don't know exactly, but she knew something I didn't. And whatever it was, it clearly upset Marshall Lee and, if I had to guess, it was very personal.
       She had a wicked smile on her face as she said, "Well, I just found out something very interesting about Marshall Lee and I think you should know about it to." After she finished, she gave Marshall a mocking glance and looked back at me. What was I supposed to say? It was a really awkward situation. I swallowed hard and was about to speak when Marshall opened his mouth instead.
       "I-It isn't that important! R-Really, it isn't!" he said, his cheeks turning bright red. I just wanted to hug him right there, the way he stuttered and how he was blushing just made my heart throb. He was so cute, and, even though it took me a second, I realized that I must've been blushing because Fionna was looking at me strangely. I snapped back into reality and looked at her instead of the blushing vampire king.
       "Well, he says it isn't really important-"
       "No, it's actually very important," she said, still smiling and looked back at Marshall Lee, sticking out her tongue at him. I sighed heavily, knowing all too well that they have a messed up sort of relationship, and that sometimes they would just start trouble for the other. I couldn't help but look back at Marshall Lee, he was still blushing and that made me smile. "Anyways Gumball," she said, looking back at me, "I think there's something Marshall Lee needs to tell you." I cocked my head to one side. If he did, then why did she need to be involved? I looked over at Marshall Lee, but he wasn't there. I looked around and realized he must've used his invisibility skill to slip away. I looked back at the very frustrated Fionna, she pulled me closer by the arm and whispered in my ear, "I'm fairly certain he has a crush on you."
       I blushed. I-Is it true? Does Marshall Lee actually like me? I looked at her, confused and a bit hopeful, "A-Are you sure?" was all I managed to say without sounding too happy or hopeful. She nodded and I could feel my heartbeat quicken. I knew that just saying I liked him wasn't enough, I was in love with him…
